LEARNING DESIGN RATIONALE
All courses were designed using ADDIE combined with cognitive and socio-constructivist learning theories.
Analysis: Collaborate closely with SMEs to determine the pedagogical requirements, course constraints and overall direction of the course. Conduct a detailed needs analysis to identify the target audience, key learning objectives and outcomes, and learners' prior knowledge and skills.
Design: Conceptualise the course design and define clear and measurable learning objectives and outcomes. Select appropriate instructional strategies and topic areas. Consider how to incorporate cognitive and socio-constructivist learning theories into the course design.
Development: Carry out rigorous research into the topic areas using a categorised checklist. Select and repurpose the learning content for a specific format, and ensure its congruence with learner and organisational needs. Implement cognitive learning strategies such as activating schema, memory retention and problem-solving; and socio-constructivist activities that promote collaboration, interaction and reflection.
Implementation: Deliver the course using sound instructional strategies, activities and technologies that encourage active participation and learner-centredness. Execute formative and summative assessments of learners' abilities at periodic and conclusive points of the course.
Evaluation: Collect comprehensive feedback from learners to assess the effectiveness of the course design. Examine feedback regarding the alignment of learning objectives with learning outcomes. Collate and interpret the information, and make an informed decision regarding the course's future use.
